Gaia’s Generative AI Policy
The surge of AI reminds me of the time when personal computers appeared and revolutionized the way we worked, followed by the internet giving us freedom to gather more information than ever and connect in ways that were unthinkable before.
AI is here to stay and as its capabilities are developing in breathtaking speed, we must clearly define how we can ethically use it.
So here’s my personal stance of how I use generative AI. I will keep this policy updated should there be any changes.
- I believe in taking a fully human-centered approach to AI that empowers people. AI should be assistive not autonomous.
- I believe that humans remain accountable for all decisions and actions, even when assisted by AI. Humans must remain in the loop in all AI applications.
- I believe in the critical role of human knowledge, experience, emotion, intuition, instinct and imagination in creativity.
- I believe in the power of the written word, images, audios and videos to educate, influence, and affect change.
- I commit to never knowingly use generative AI technology to deceive or to spread falsehoods, misinformation, disinformation, or propaganda.
- I believe that transparency in data collection and AI usage is essential in order to maintain the trust of my clients, community and partners.
- I believe in personalization without invasion of privacy, including strict adherence to data privacy laws, mitigation of privacy risks for consumers, and following my moral compass when legal precedent lags behind AI innovation.
- I believe in intelligent automation without dehumanization, and the potential of AI to have profound benefits for humanity and society.
- I believe in the importance of upskilling and reskilling professionals, and using AI to build more fulfilling careers and lives.
- I believe in partnering with organizations and people who share my principles.
How I Use AI Today
While I am constantly experimenting with AI technologies to drive efficiency and performance across many business functions, my primary use cases today are in the generative AI space for teaching and marketing. Specifically ideation, brainstorming, research, and image creation for my own programs, webinars, and other presentations.
I use a variety of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products for the following functions with current tools indicated in parentheses:
- Speech-to-text transcription
- Video editing
- Content summarization
- Outline generation
- Image generation
- Copywriting drafts
- Ideation
